- A first generation citizen of Wisconsin, Chess' family came from the 'old South' via Texas and Oklahoma.
- Chess is a native of Milwaukee and was raised in the Elmbrook and Wauwatosa suburb of Metro Milwaukee.
- Of the "Baby Boomer" era
- Chess studied economics in the State of California and attended graduate school at UW-Madison
- Prior careers include civil servant, regulatory/legislative compliance manager, attorney, and publishing entrepreneur (1974 to present).
- Chess started his real estate career in 2004 and joined Realty Executives Integrity in early 2008.
- Hobbies and interests include environmental conservation, politics, reading non-fiction, being physically fit, his Christian faith, tennis, golf, and all forms of visual and performing arts (except opera!), travel, and teaching.
- Chess is married to Nancy Davis and together they have two teenagers; a son age 16 and a daughter age 14. They have a mixed cat "Boomer."
The focus of Chess Erwin's real estate practice is Milwaukee and Waukesha Counties. He's previously lived in Madison, Oconomowoc, Brookfield, Elm Grove and Milwaukee. He enjoys working with relocation properties and experienced buyers and sellers.
